RUMBLEFISH played throughout Vancouver from 1990 to 1992; and their song "STRANGER THINGS", penned by ANI KYD, aired at the #1 spot on CITR radio Local Releases Chart for four months in 1991. In 1993 ANI and Gerry-Jenn Wilson (JP5) formed SPANK MACHINE, which quickly became one of Vancouver's most popular live bands.
In early 1995, ANI folded the band in favor of starting a new project that focused on broadening her musical range and stage show. The project was SPANKING BETTY. At their debut performance, opening for the newly reformed SUBHUMANS at the Starfish Room, the band inspired legions of fans with their stage antics and powerful songs.
ANI KYD's new project has her performing as a singer/songwriter under her own name. She is currently in the studio recording songs for a forthcoming CD.
ANI, and Her Band of Champions performed songs she wrote for SPANKING BETTY and her previous bands, as well as, exciting new material (written in collaboration with Marc L'Esperance). Their first performance was headlining a sold-out show at The Gastown Music Hall on Friday April 5th, 1996. Since then she has played many shows in Vancouver's best live venues. ANI has also played several shows as a solo performer at the Railway Club's Grrrls With Guitars series, which showcases some of Vancouver's strongest female talent. She has also played gigs with at the Railway Club with other notable Vancouver musicians such as Joe Keithley (DOA). Vancouver has enjoyed the talent and charisma of ANI KYD for many years and is now ready to share its rare find with all who are willing to listen. | ||
