The Chick Magnets are a pop punk band from Vancouver BC Canada,
whose style has been described as Buddy Holly meets The Ramones.
Chock full of youthful exuberance (with 1/3 un-youthful exuberance),
the Chick Magnets sing songs about loneliness, despair, girls, and TV,
all the while keeping a happy tempo that keeps a smile on your face,
your toes-a-tappin, and your head-a-boppin. One young man at a recent
all-ages show was noted to say, "Hey, these guys are all wearing the same shoes".
The Chick Magnets are Ken Insipid, Lance Heartthrob, and B.D. Smooth.
Ken sings most of the songs, plays bass, and has a certain something with the ladies
(that something is awkwardness). Lance Heartthrob plays all guitars, sings those
songs that Ken doesn't sing, and sings harmoies on the rest. B.D.S. plays drums and
contributes vocally with various grunts, screams and shouts.
The Chick Magnets
have recorded a full length CD "Low Budget Super Heroes", and an EPCD
"Lacing Up the All-Stars", both on
Crusty Records.
They also have a track on the
Crusty Records
Compilation "Crusty is as Crusty Does", two tracks on the
Misfits Tribute CD "Here Comes the Dead" on Black Light Records,
a track on the soon to be released Star Records Forgotten Rebels tribute,
and a track on the soon to be released Dead Milkmen tribute on Crazy Bastard Records.
Over the last 2 years of their existance, The Chick Magnets have played many shows
around the Vancouver area. They have done some touring as well, including a show in
Squamish with dbs, and a show in Kamloops with Pansy Division.
