DIRTY BIRD was formed in 1990 out of the downtown core of Toronto, Canada. Through touring and word-of-mouth they quickly gained an audience... a street-smart, anti-fashionable, generally intimidating group that the "mainstream" music industry had no interest in. "Experts" believed that DIRTY BIRD would soon be forgotten. As for being forgotten... It's been over 10 years and DIRTY BIRD still kicks ass! The respect they continue to command from their fellow artists, means far more to DIRTY BIRD than the opinions of so-called "experts" who sacrifice artistic integrity for money. DIRTY BIRD's "FUCK YOU! You can't keep us down!" posture appeals to an ever-growing legion of hardcore fans who have no tolerance for mass-produced crap. Blistering solos and rockin rhythms pierce through an incredibly loud wall of noise and demand attention. DIRTY BIRD wants their audience to know that none of the band members are any more special than anyone else. Rather than spend time on a bus or in a dressing room, DIRTY BIRD prefers to spend time before and after each show mingling and socializing with their audience. Meeting new friends and entertaining is the only hope any member of this band has of getting laid! Captivating and theatrical, DIRTY BIRD takes the crowd where few bands dare to go, discarding the typical rock&roll "cool" "tough" or "pretty boy" approach most bands take. With a gutter-mouth and a "who gives a fuck" attitude, frontman Uncle Anus leads the quartet through a merciless onslaught of observations, salutations and condemnations of his street-level life. This is pure anti-establishment, DIY punk the likes of which we haven't seen in way too long. The music is brutal, raw and honest. Killer stuff.
