All members of GROOVEMONGER originate from the Guildford Park Secondary School Jazz Program, in "beautiful" Surrey, BC.
Under the inspired leadership of band director Bob LaBonte they began to thrive in the exposure of the jazz competition circuit.
Touring to Idaho, California, Toronto and elsewhere, they became addicted to the concept of inspired, professional music making and the overwhelming desire to share their inspiration with all who would listen.
A few years after graduation they were becoming quite disillusioned with their post secondary education careers. With the great desire to create original, groovy music, the seemingly endless task of cranking out cover tunes in a 70's cover band just didn't do it for them. Out of the crumbling ashes of the "foundation" came GROOVEMONGER. Countless hours were spent jamming away at the local JAVA JOINT coffee house, where most of the inspiration for the band evolved. Beginning in June 1997, the five groovy ones began writing and practicing as a band, and so began the legend that is... GROOVEMONGER.
With the release of their 1st CD "BOOGIE MAN", GROOVEMONGER hopes to get their music out to a wider audience.
At a live GROOVEMONGER show you can expect to have a "FUNKN" good time.
The goal is to have you out of your seat and dancing all night long to the sounds of the their funky grooves!
Strong interest expressed from Europe has given GROOVEMONGER
the opportunity to tour several western European countries. With a sound that bridges cultures and musical genres,
it won't be long before GROOVEMONGER has a world wide following.
