SWEATERSDUMP THAT CREEP

The SWEATERS!

REAL MEN PLAY POP!

When Vancouver hard-pop veterans The SWEATERS were asked to record the song "Dump That Creep" for the SHOT SPOTS TROOPER tribute album, they were both thrilled and honoured. Not only were they happy to pay tribute to the CanRock institution that is TROOPER, but each of The SWEATERS has a personal connection to the "Boys in the Bright White Sports Car".

Singer Pete Campbell remembers TROOPER as one of the first concerts he ever saw, back in his high school days in Victoria BC. "We all pretty much thought they sucked, but you couldn't help but clap along in the breakdown part of "Raise A Little Hell". Also, in my year book the line, "We're Here for a Good Time, Not a Long Time", appears more often than any other quote as a source of personal inspiration to the grads of "79".

SWEATERS drummer, James Richards, has his own TROOPER story. Instead of TROOPER being a guilty pleasure, he has nothing but affection stemming from an early connection to the band. His Uncle Werner popped in a tape of "Hot Shots" on the way to a weekend camping trip when James was young. "I found rock'n'roll a little scary but I even liked that too", he adds, "I had to buy the record when I saw it at K~Mart."

Rounding out The SWEATERS, bassist Shawn Turkington doesn't have much to say one way or the other about TROOPER. "But I do like that Iron Maiden song "The Trooper" though."...and that's good enough for us.
